Lorraine Shanley, President
Lorraine Shanley, President of MPI, began her career at Barnes & Noble and Book of the Month Club, where she was EVP in charge of clubs and merchandise. She moved to HarperCollins as Editorial Director, but left to co-found Market Partners International, which remains the only firm focused on consulting and recruiting for publishers. Shanley serves on the Advisory Board of New York University’s Center for Publishing, and for five years chaired the Launch Kids Media conference at Digital Book World. A member (and past president) of Women’s Media Group, she is on the board of The Hudson River Museum and is a livery member of the Stationers Company Communications & Content Guild in London. Shanley graduated from the University of Rochester and received her M.A. from the University of Virginia, where she has served on the Jefferson Fellowship committee. In her spare time she writes articles on publishing, technology and social media, and regularly reviews audiobooks and books for several sites.
Amy Rhodes, Principal Consultant
Amy Rhodes, Executive Vice President, joined Market Partners in 2009 and was named a Partner in 2011. She has worked in sales and marketing and as publisher at a broad range of companies, including NAL, Random House, Little Brown, Abrams, Rodale, and Watson-Guptill. As Trade Publisher at Rodale, she grew revenues from $14 million to over $100 million in 4 years, and in her next role as Publisher and General Manager of Watson-Guptill, she took an unprofitable, illustrated book category publisher and positioned it for a profitable sale to Random House in only two years. Rhodes is a graduate of the University of Chicago and has taught at New York University’s School of Continuing Education. A regular contributor to Goodreads, Rhodes is also a bike rider and a ranked duplicate bridge player.
Julie Blattberg, Senior Consultant
Julie Blattberg is a strategic consultant to corporations, publishers, digital startups, and nonprofit organizations looking to improve their marketing and communications, implement operational efficiencies, or launch or grow a business. An experienced media executive and process wonk with an acuity for compelling content, she’s all about ideating and executing innovative paths to scaling businesses and driving revenue.
She’s held strategy, marketing, and operations positions at book publishing powerhouses, such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Disney Publishing Worldwide, and was VP, Strategic Operations and Chief of Staff to the CEO at Open Road Integrated Media. Julie works with publishers, authors, and nonprofits to optimize workflows and metadata, grow audience and reach, develop messaging and branding, and capitalize on content.
Constance Sayre, Consultant-at-Large
Constance Sayre, one of the original founders of MPI, is currently a consultant-at-large for MPI. She has held a range of senior positions in publishing. Starting at Simon & Schuster, she was also at Henry Holt and Times Books before moving to London to work for Andre Deutsch and Time Life Book Clubs. Returning to New York, she held senior positions at Viking, and Grove Atlantic before co-founding MPI. She is a graduate of Barnard College.
